Sonus faber Announces Principia Series

Following Sonus faber's debut of the Chameleon range of speakers last year, their latest release, 'Principia' follows those same traditions bringing everything that one of the world's finest brands has learned, and making it more affordable.

The brand Principia collection is the new entry-level line from the Italian company, designing a product for those seeking a simple hi-fi solution but with a definite Italian touch at an affordable price - all without giving up on perfect music reproduction.

Phil Sawyer, Managing Director of Australian importers Synergy Audio Visual, told StereoNET:

Principia embodies the idea of a beginning, a foundation, a primary element: plain and essential lines, like the ones that define the speaker’s design, and a name that stands for one’s starting point and entry in the high end world.

The inspiration behind this collection is Sonus faber’s unwavering belief that perfect sound is a right for all Music lovers.

The range consists of 2 bookshelf models, 2 floorstanding models and one center channel speaker.  Each show a deep relationship with the Chameleon collection that StereoNET reviewed here. Sharing many of the Chameleon’s design and technical details, particularly the brushed aluminum finishes and trapezoidal shape.

The Principia models share the same 29mm fabric dome tweeter as Chameleon, however all use new woofers and midrange drivers that are brand new in design and unique to Principia.

True to the Chameleon name, the interchangable side panels of the former range have not been carried over to Principia. Instead, they feature a flawless black vinyl veneer surface that matches and complements modern decors.

Sawyer continued:

Sonus faber's Principia collection is a great solution for many different listening needs, meeting the requirements of stereo as well as multichannel home theater systems in both small and large rooms. Stock is expected later in 2016 and local pricing will be confirmed closer to delivery.

It's testament to a great brand with solid foundations, often found at the ultra-high-end of HiFi, designing an affordable entry-level product that still delivers on those same principles in which the company was founded.

While Principia is designed in the Sonus faber headquarters in Arcugnano, Italy, and manufactured and finished in China, under strict supervision from Sonus faber experts, to date they've been able to produce their products under the same control and procedures and quality typical of any Sonus faber product.

Sonus faber is distributed in Australia by Synergy Audio Visual.

    applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
