Sennheiser Updates Wireless Closed-Back Headphones

Not so long ago, serious music fans wouldn’t be caught dead wearing a pair of wireless cans, but with exponential improvements in wireless tech, freeing your head from needless plastic spaghetti has become a no-brainer. Sennheiser – as you might imagine – not only captures the zeitgeist but also goes a few steps further with its around-ear wireless ‘phones.

Sennheiser’s new HD 350BT and HD 450BT closed-back headphones unsurprisingly sport the German company’s legendary ability to render sound in a way that pleases the senses but does so with a bevy of extras, and at a competitive price point.

Replacing the HD 4.40BT and HD 4.50BTNC headphones, the new models are said to offer a remarkable audio experience with bass that could rattle those fillings. These handsome clamps both feature Bluetooth 5.0 compatibility and high-quality codec support, including AAC, AptX and AptX Low Latency, which enables perfect synchronisation with video or games.

With a stunning 30 hours of battery life, the HD 450BT includes active noise cancellation so that music can be enjoyed without distraction, and for sonic sticklers, it can also be used in wired mode.

Minimalist, ergonomic and easy to fold away for travel, both of these on-ear ‘phones can be set to one’s personal preferences via the equaliser function on Sennheiser’s Smart Control app.

With fast, USB-C charging and an easy-to-find button for Siri or Google Assistant, these two wireless headphones are made even more attractive by their sticker price: the HD 350BT is a snip at AU $199.95 / NZ $219.95, and HD450BT is AU $299.95 / NZ $329.95 - Available in February and March, respectively.
