MUSICAL FIDELITY’S NEW M6S DAC HAS LANDED

Taking centre stage at High End show in Munich last year was Musical Fidelity's brand new M6S DAC.

Propped up on a pedestal in the centre of the room, it was clear MF was proud of its latest creation. And with good reason.

The M6S DAC slots nicely into Musical Fidelity’s M6s Series of products that in their own words, offers “exceptional sonic talents matched by a premium fit and finish: this is high-end hi-fi you’ll be proud to own – all at an attainable price.”

The good news is that after a few delays, it has hit the ground, or at least the showrooms of Musical Fidelity dealers dotted around the country.

The M6S DAC also benefits from the brand's 30% price reduction in Australia meaning this one hits the market at just $2,699 RRP.

The M6S has been designed with flexibility in mind with multiple connection options including three coaxial, three optical, and USB inputs – all upsampled to 32-bit/768kHz. It accepts all data rates up to DSD128.

Tim Sleath, General Manager at Audio Marketing who distribute Musical Fidelity in Australia, told StereoNET:

After an extensive development program, Musical Fidelity’s new configuration in the M6S is spearheaded by four stereo 32 bit DACs arranged in a fully differential (balanced) dual mono topology. This is complemented by a top quality over sampling 32 bit sample rate converter circuit, which asynchronously up-samples all incoming data rates to 768 kHz internally.

These developments, we're told, move the digital artefacts to well outside the audio band, allowing easy removal without detriment to the top end of the audio band. In a nutshell, it sounds better!

Musical Fidelity's M6S DAC is available now in Black or Silver for $2,699 RRP.
