JVC PUTS QUALITY AHEAD OF PROFIT WITH 2018 PROJECTOR RANGE
Eager JVC projector enthusiasts awaiting the 2018 D-ILA projector line will need to wait longer as the company announces it has ceased production and will not be able to launch the range in the immediate future.
A letter sent to JVC dealers last week by Kazuyoshi Hayashi, General Executive of Media Business Division for JVCKENWOOD Corporation, confirmed quality issues had been discovered during production.
Following positive displays of its 4K Native and 8K e-shift projectors at IFA and CEDIA earlier in 2018, the 2018 range has been highly anticipated by dealers.
Upon commencing mass-production of the projectors we discovered some unwelcome phenomenon that would have led to a less than perfect user experience with the projector.
After intensive study this phenomenon was traced to a component sourced from a third party. We have been working around the clock since this discovery to find a solution.
From the letter, JVC has said that there is "no rapid solution" and that JVC will postpone the release of its 2018 line.
The stalled 2018 range which consisted of three models, DLA-N5, DLA-N7B and DLA-NX9B, has left the market wide open for Sony in the Native 4K projector space, who is already enjoying substantial market share, along with very positive reviews.
Sony's latest True 4K projector range includes the entry-level VW270ES ($8,999 RRP), the mid-tier VW570ES ($13,999 RRP) and the premium VW870ES ($39,999 RRP), all of which it says deliver benchmark performance at their respective price point.
The good news is JVC has recognised the "phenomenon" and made the hard decision to cease production and postpone the release before it was too late.
