B&O’S BEOSOUND STAGE RAISES THE BAR
Lifestyle brand, B&O has announced its first-ever soundbar.
But being the boutique brand that it is, the new Beosound Stage is a long way from the plain-vanilla soundbars populating the bulk stores.
To celebrate a component that’s a mainstay of the TV viewing masses, B&O as a point of difference says its model is a “state-of-the-art product”.
A fair description given the Beosound Stage has all of the freshly minted kind of styling all of the brand’s products are renowned for.
The look is sleek and refined. As for the finish, the B&O clientele can opt to have theirs come with a silver frame covered in black fabric ($2,500) or in a nod to retro, they can have a Beosound stage finished in a bronze tone frame and covered with a warm taupe Kvadrat cover ($3,500).
The frame runs all the way around the new soundbar, and it also houses a seamlessly integrated engraved sensory control panel. Using the supplied remote or the control panel, users can select one of five different listening modes comprising TV, Music, Movie, Night Listening or none of these.
A look and a finish informed by what B&O calls its design strategy to humanise technology.
But given B&O’s commitment to technological innovation, if you go past the new soundbar’s handsome styling, you encounter a barrow load of desirable features.
Sonically, the Beosound Stage is configured to be no Dawdling Dorothy thanks to an array of eleven speaker drivers with a single goal in mind: Dolby Atmos with its 3D sound experience.
Each of the eleven speakers is powered by a 50-watt amplifier, and this array is configured in a 3-channel, fully active DSP-based sound system.
B&O doesn’t include a subwoofer because it says one is not required.
Christopher Ostergaard Poulsen, the brand’s Vice President of Product Management, told StereoNET:
We created Beosound Stage as a powerful soundbar that doesn’t rely on a subwoofer or satellites to create an immersive experience…it is simple, clean, elegant and powerful.
And yes, B&O’s inaugural soundbar does have all the techno-goodies deemed mandatory these days by the wireless streaming generation. So you can tick off built-in Chromecast, Apple Airplay 2 and of course, Bluetooth and multi-room functionality.
The Beosound Stage will go on sale in early November.
