ASTELL&KERN ANNOUNCES SP1000M DIGITAL AUDIO PLAYER
Astell&Kern has added a new player in its flagship line of digital audio players that is smaller and lighter, but equally as capable.
The A&ultima SP1000M features a 4.1-inch HD screen and comes in at almost half the weight of the bigger SP1000.
It's equipped with two AK4497EQ DACs, one each for independent left and right channels which A&K says produces a wider soundstage and better stereo separation.
Furthermore, A&K adds that with the addition of an Octa-Core CPU, the A&ultima SP1000M not only boots faster, but can process digital audio playback without lag or compromise in sound.
Support includes native playback of 32-bit/384kHz high-resolution PCM audio and native playback of DSD audio, up to Quad-rate (DSD256).
Like other DAPs in the flagship range, the new HD-resolution screen provides sharp images and vivid colours displaying album artwork, music playback and player information. The GUI that was first introduced via the SP1000 can also be found on the smaller SP1000M.
It supports USB Type-C 3.0 for fast data transfers, said to be twice as fast as other A&K players. With support for fast charging, A&ultima SP1000M is good for up to 10 hours of music playback.
Choice of colours? Not this time. The SP1000M features an all-aluminium body that is available only in Lapis Blue, and it is stunning.
The SP1000M offers 4.2Vrms Balanced Output, a Parametric EQ, Wi-Fi connectivity, USB DAC function, DLNA networking support, digital audio output via USB, apt X HD Bluetooth, and support for high-resolution music streaming services including TIDAL and others depending on the country.
With 128Gb of internal storage and up to one 512Gb microSD card capacity you won't be left wondering which tracks to transfer for on-the-go listening.
Finally, the big news is that Astell&Kern has sais that it plans to roll out support for Android APK which will bring with it the ability to essentially drag 'n drop apps on flagship A&K DAPs. This feature allows apps that were not supported in the past, such as Spotify or third-party music players, to be installed and enable users to customise their digital audio players.
Available in October, the SP1000M will sell in New Zealand for $3,999 RRP.
