The MDX range comprises the MDX-8 ($2,499 RRP), which powers up to eight channels and four zones, and the MDX-16 ($3,699 RRP), which can power 16 channels and eight zones.

Both amplifiers have a rated power output of 60 watts RMS per channel (into 8 ohms or 120 watts into 4ohms), or 200 watts (8 ohms) when bridged. Both also feature Ultra-Class-D amplification, which is supported by Advanced Load Monitoring technology.

In addition to offering a raft of connections including analogue, optical, coaxial (MDX-16 only), the MDX-8 and MDX-16 also feature removable Euroblock style speaker level outputs. 

Other features include Advanced Load Monitoring and subwoofer outputs with room correction and bass management. 

The MDX series of amplifiers are the first to provide fully powered and independent-zone subwoofer connections. Bass management can be enabled in any zone, allowing independent control of crossover frequency, level, phase and polarity. 

Featuring a web-based UI which works with any device other zone configuration options include custom naming, multiple inputs, independent playback and tuning controls. Furthermore, analogue pass-through (MDX-16) allows multiple MDX amplifiers to be daisy-chained.

The MDX series is compatible with several home automation systems, including Control 4, Crestron, ELAN, RTI, Savant and URC. 

Rounding out an already impressive feature set is Anthem’s ARC Genesis Room Correction system, which is compatible with both the Mac OS X and Windows.

Both the MDX-8 and MDX-16 come with an individually calibrated mic and rack-mount arms.
