Naim Flys the Flag
UK specialist brand, Naim has a new flagship pre / power combo, essentially a NAC S1 pre-amplifier and two NAPS1 mono amplifiers, dubbed "The Statement".
While it won’t be available until July, the Statement which has been under development for three years uses a vertical design instead of Naim’s traditional and more conventional horizontal chassis shapes.
Giving this substantial vertical structure a touch of hi-tech class are the use of a sculptured heatsink, illuminated volume control and an acrylic divider.
The Statement isn’t a case of vintage wine in new bottles. Naim completely redesigned The NAC S1 pre including all switching bolted to a heafty brass frame which in turn is suspended using a leaf-spring suspension. The new pre has a dual-volume control.
The NAPS1 monoblocs pump out an astounding 746 watts into 8ohms and 1450-watts into 4ohms. Naim says the new amps can generate 9000 watts into a 1-ohm load calculated by Naim using a burst measurement technique.
